Sangatte

Image
We found a safe and popular motorhome stopover in Sangatte, where we spent the final night of our Big Adventure! We visited the beach before dark and saw Great Britain in the distance! There was a failed migrant crossing during the night. The police are on the beach and around the town rounding up migrants. They told us there were between 40 and 50 people on this boat!  We saw a few of the migrants gathered together in the town.

Mailly le Camp

On Sunday evening we arrived at Mailly le Camp, where we stayed in a motorhome stopover. It was a nice little carpark behind the fire station. In 1944, there was a plan to attack a German military training centre just outside the town. Unfortunately it resulted in 42 Lancasters being shot down, 11.6% of the force, resulting in the loss of some 300 aircrew. We are now on the final stretch of France en route to Calais. Our crossing on the eurotunnel is tomorrow morning, so will spend our last night in the van tonight!

Saint Flour & Chateauroux

Image
We left warm sunshine in Blanes on Friday and headed towards France. We spent Friday night in a town called Saint Flour. It was freezing!! We walked round the town and market on saturday morning, then continued our journey north. We arrived at Chateauroux late afternoon and checked into a campsite called Camping Le Rochat Selle Isle. It is situated right next to a lovely park, with lake and restaurant.

Costa Brava - Blanes

Image
We left Cambrils on Monday and drove past Barcelona and onto the Costa Brava. We checked in to a campsite in Blanes called Camping Blanes, which has direct access onto the promenade and beach. On Tuesday we walked along the promenade and explored the town. It has a lot to offer, with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, buildings and gardens.

Cambrils, Costa Daurada

Image
We drove to the Costa Daurada on Friday evening and checked in to a campsite called La Llosa in Cambrils. This is the best seaside town, with multiple sandy bays backed by a long promenade which is 7km long!! There is a marina and many bars, restaurants and shops still open. The temperature has dropped considerably and it is really windy! But the sun is still shining.

Torreblanca town

We left Tropicana on Friday and took the van to the garage in Torreblanca for the exhaust repair. It took a few hours longer than expected so we had plenty of time to explore the limited sights of Torreblanca Town! There were some interesting murals dotted around...
