Mailly le Camp
On Sunday evening we arrived at Mailly le Camp, where we stayed in a motorhome stopover. It was a nice little carpark behind the fire station.
In 1944, there was a plan to attack a German military training centre just outside the town. Unfortunately it resulted in 42 Lancasters being shot down, 11.6% of the force, resulting in the loss of some 300 aircrew.
We are now on the final stretch of France en route to Calais. Our crossing on the eurotunnel is tomorrow morning, so will spend our last night in the van tonight!
