Settled in Croatia
After our flying visit to Lake Bled, we travelled onwards through the border between Slovenia and Croatia, where we received our first stamp in our passports as evidence that we had exited the Schengen area.
For those who are unaware, UK citizens are limited to spending only 90 out of any 180 days in the Schengen area. So we planned to get out of Schengen as soon as we could, so that the later months of our trip can be spent in Schengen countries such as Spain, Portugal or France.
We turned up at a campsite in Savudrija in the Istria region of Croatia and booked for five nights.
Our pitch is nestled amongst fragrant pine forest and close to the sea.
Directly behind our pitch is a smallholding growing fruit and veg, which is sold at a little stall round the corner!
It felt so good to unpack properly and set up our pitch. It also felt amazing to swim in the adriatic sea. It was so warm!
We haven't had a chance to investigate the area properly, but we will do over the coming days.
