Starigrad - Winnetou country

On Sunday we left Vodice and drove to Starigrad Paklenica, which is in the Zadar region. 

We checked in to a campsite called Camp Plantaža which is small, friendly and has a lovely dog friendly beach. 

It is a short ten minute walk into the nearby village with shops and restaurants. 

Throughout the 1960's, legendary movies about the adventures of the Indian Apache chief Winnetou, based on Karl May's novels, were filmed in this area. There is a museum and tours of the film locations, and a lot of excitement is brewing as there is a new movie being released later this year!! 

The temperature has only been in the late 20s the last few days, which is the first time it has been below 30 since we started our Europe trip! So it is a lot more comfortable.

This campsite ticks all the boxes, so we will probably stay here for a few days.
